Farm fire cases in Punjab cross 1,000 this season, ₹17 lakh fines imposed

Farm fire incidents in Punjab have crossed 1,000 this season, with Tarn Taran accounting for the highest number of incidents at 397, followed by Amritsar with 171 and Ferozepur with 104. Authorities have imposed fines of over ₹17 lakh as environmental compensation in 349 stubble-burning cases, registering 246 FIRs. Farm fire incidents in Punjab have nearly doubled in a week.
