America's super-powerful Nimitz-class supercarrier USS George HW Bush, carrying 5,000 sailors, is taking a long detour around Africa to reach the Middle East, undertaking a 1.5 times longer route.
The supercarrier seems to be avoiding transiting the Red Sea and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, fearing Iran-backed Houthis, who have attacked US ships with drones and missiles in the past.
