Western Europe records hottest June and July on record

Western Europe recorded its hottest June and July on record, according to the EU's Copernicus Climate Change Service. The region's average temperature over the two months reached 21.62°C, surpassing the previous record set in 2022. The weather service cited "exceptional persistence of heat", with four heatwaves since May. The extreme temperatures have fueled wildfires and heat-related deaths.
