Govt slashes remission of taxes on exported products by 50%

The government amended the Remission of Duties and Taxes on Exported Products Scheme and limited benefits to 50% of the existing rates and the notified value caps. This doesn't apply to the export products like live animals, vegetable products, prepared foodstuffs, beverages, and tobacco. Experts warned the move could raise export costs and dent competitiveness in price-sensitive global markets.
