Joe Root breaks world record for most catches by a fielder in Test cricket history

England captain Joe Root on Friday broke former Australia captain Steve Smith's world record for the most catches by a fielder in Test cricket. Root took his 219th catch during the first Test against Pakistan, reaching the mark in his 167th Test. Smith has taken 218 catches in 124 Tests.
