BMC to study Mumbai's coast as UN report warns of permanent inundation

Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has commissioned a study to assess Mumbai's coastline to examine vulnerable stretches. The study will assess how land use, coastal development and climate patterns have affected Mumbai's vulnerability to rising sea levels. This comes after a UN report warned that Mumbai faces risk of permanent inundation and that 14 million people could lose their homes.
