TMC MLA Madan Mitra, after joining the party's rebel faction led by Ritabrata Banerjee, denied quitting the Mamata Banerjee camp out of fear of ED action. He said he wanted to support a "new, assertive Trinamool" to better take on the BJP. Explaining his exit, Mitra added, "She (Mamata Banerjee) chased me away. So I left too."
