Delhi HC mandates Aadhaar verification for new GST registrations

Delhi High Court directed authorities to allow new GST registrations only after biometric-based Aadhaar authentication amid misuse of stolen PAN and Aadhaar cards. This comes after 4,454 fraudulent GST registrations were reportedly detected from 2023-25 leading to tax evasion of ₹28,194 crore. Authorities have been allowed to file objections over any difficulty in implementing the order.
