A composite of satellite images showed the Moon before (left) and after (right) a discarded SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket stage crashed into it. The four-tonne rocket part struck the Moon near Einstein Crater at around 8,700 kmph, likely creating a new crater. The impact also kicked up a plume of lunar dust briefly illuminated by sunlight.
