A mentally ill homeless man, Ramon Rivera, 51, fatally stabbed three people during an hours-long spree in Manhattan. Victims included a construction worker, a fisherman, and a woman who later died in hospital. Joe Kenny, NYPD Chief of Detectives, said Rivera, with eight prior arrests, was stopped by police with help from a cab driver and a British tourist.
