Couple seeks to end 8-month pregnancy over baby's rare disease, HC says 'Give baby to welfare body'

The Kerala HC has allowed a couple, seeking termination of an over 33-week-long pregnancy after learning of a rare disease, to hand over the baby to the Child Welfare Committee after birth. The child has skeletal dysplasia, a rare genetic disorder. A medical board said that since the baby's condition is non-lethal, termination of pregnancy was medically unnecessary.
