World record broken as 53 red cards shown in one football match in Brazil

A world record 53 people were sent off during an Under-20 football match between Uberlândia and Mamoré in Brazil following a mass brawl. The dismissals included 43 players, eight coaching staff members and two club officials. The brawl began in the ninth minute of stoppage time after Mamoré went 3-1 up. The previous record was 36 dismissals.
