CJI DY Chandrachud said that the role of the Supreme Court as a people's court must be preserved for the future. "Being a people's court is not to say that we fulfil the role of Opposition in Parliament," he added. While criticism for legal inconsistencies or errors is acceptable, court's role shouldn't be judged based on outcomes, he further said.
