Delhi HC orders AR Rahman to pay ₹2 crore in 'PS-2' copyright case

Delhi High Court on Friday passed an interim order against music director AR Rahman in a copyright infringement lawsuit filed by classical singer Ustad Faiyaz Wasifuddin Dagar. The order stated that 'Ponniyin Selvan-2' song 'Veera Raja Veera' is "identical" to Dagar's 'Shiva Stuti'. The court directed Rahman and production company Madras Talkies to deposit ₹2 crore with the registry.

'Court can't stay provisions of Waqf Act,' Centre in reply to Supreme Court

The Centre sought the dismissal of petitions challenging the Waqf (Amendment) Act in its affidavit filed in the Supreme Court. It said it opposes a stay on Act's provisions. "There is a presumption of constitutionality that applies to laws made by Parliament and an interim stay by the court is against the principle of balance of powers," it said.

Security forces had launched a cordon and search operation in the Kulnar Bazipora area of Bandipora following information about presence of terrorists in the area, officials added. No casualties have been reported in the incident so far.

Bharti Airtel has announced that its AI-powered spam detection tool will now screen and alert customers to all SPAM calls and SMSes from international networks. Notably, 'Airtel Warning: SPAM' has flagged over 27.5 billion spam calls since its launch. The new feature comes after scamsters and spammers resorted to exploiting foreign networks to funnel fraudulent calls into India, Airtel said.
