After Congress alleged police denied permission for Rahul Gandhi's April-23 Kolkata event at the TMC government's behest, the latter responded. Minister Shashi Panja said the government is in a caretaker role and approvals fall under the ECI during the Model Code of Conduct. She added that event requests must be filed in advance through the ECI's Suvidha Portal.
