CPI(M) leader Pinarayi Vijayan has resigned as Kerala CM after the Left Democratic Front (LDF) suffered a defeat in the Assembly polls on Monday. Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar accepted his resignation and requested him to continue as caretaker CM until a new CM assumes office. Notably, the Congress-led UDF secured 102/140 seats, ending LDF's 10-year-rule in the state.
