Russian cybercrime operation Sality dismantled after 23 years

Russian cybercrime operation "Sality" is being dismantled after more than 23 years, US officials and cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike said. First detected in 2003, the botnet enabled hackers to control infected computers for spam and cryptocurrency theft among others. Sality spread through USB drives and worked as a decentralised peer-to-peer network.
