Taiwan Police ruled out terrorism in a deadly attack in Taipei on December 19, saying the 27-year-old suspect acted alone and showed no political, religious or ideological motive. The assailant, Chang, set off smoke bombs at Taipei Main Station and carried out stabbings near Zhongshan Station, killing three civilians and injuring 11. He later died after falling from a building.
