England won the first gold medal of Commonwealth Games (CWG) 2026 after Mark Swan triumphed in men's lightweight para powerlifting event. Swan accumulated 153.9 points and recorded a best lift of 222kg to finish ahead of Nigeria's Roland Ezeruike, who accumulated 153.9 points and registered a best lift of 185kg. Defending champion Bonnie Bunyau Gustin of Malayisa secured bronze medal.
