Indian workers paid under $2/hr despite $15 wage norm on US project in Milan

Foreign workers, mostly Indians, who were building $350-million US Consulate in Milan were paid under $2 an hour despite being promised fair wages, Associated Press reported. Construction workers in Milan earn a minimum wage of $15 an hour. Prosecutors allege US' Caddell Construction illegally deducted room-and-board costs from workers' pay and made them work 10-hour days, six days a week.
