Iran rejects UN's 'military confrontation' remark, calls it 'self-defence'

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei rejected UN's characterisation of the renewed conflict in the Middle East as a "military confrontation". He said Tehran’s strikes on US military assets in the southern Persian Gulf were a lawful exercise of self-defence. Earlier, the US struck 140 military targets in Iran after an attack on a commercial ship in Strait of Hormuz.
