What is 'bond laddering'?

Bond laddering is a fixed-income strategy where investors buy bonds with different maturity periods instead of investing entire portfolio in bonds maturing simultaneously. Investors can create ladders using 1-year, 3-year and 5-year bonds, aligning maturities with when funds are needed. The strategy helps reduce reinvestment risk by ensuring the entire investment does not mature simultaneously.
