Pakistan's Army chief Asim Munir gets new powers

Pakistan's parliament has granted Army chief Asim Munir sweeping powers and total control over all military operations, senior officers and personnel matters. He now has the authority to retire, discharge or retain personnel and even alter the prescribed retirement limits. The new law establishes Defence Forces Headquarters, with Munir serving as the supreme commander of the three armed services.
