Portion of late Bharat Ratna Ustad Bismillah Khan demolished in Varanasi

A portion of late Bharat Ratna shehnai maestro Ustad Bismillah Khan's ancestral house was demolished in Varanasi. SP chief Akhilesh Yadav called BJP and its "narrow-minded" allies "orthodox conservatives" who are destroying India's honour. However, civic officials said Ustad's family members undertook the demolition after refusing their museum proposal and deciding to redevelop it independently.
