The central government told the Madras HC that Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev's Isha Foundation did not require prior environmental clearance for carrying out construction work in Coimbatore. The foundation could claim the exception as it's an institute that promotes education, said the Centre. The Tamil Nadu government filed a case against the foundation in January 2022 for violating environmental laws.
