Researchers in JNU and DU found that Delhi’s forests are absorbing huge amounts of carbon through trees and soil, with potential to generate over ₹4 lakh per hectare through carbon credits. Their study showed one hectare of urban forest land on JNU campus can store nearly 3,46,900 kg of carbon dioxide. Neem and babool trees emerged as strongest carbon absorbers.
