Lok Sabha passes Bill to rename 'Kerala' as 'Keralam'

The Lok Sabha passed the Kerala (Alteration of Name) Bill, 2026 to rename the state as 'Keralam' on Tuesday. It will be renamed under Article 3 of the Constitution which allows the Parliament to change the name of any state. This comes two years after the Kerala Assembly unanimously adopted the resolution to rename the state to 'Keralam' in 2024.
