Fines changed for smoking in metro and milking cattle on street

Parliament on Thursday passed the Jan Vishwas (Amendment of Provisions) Bill, 2026, changing fines for offences like smoking in the metro, milking cattle on the street and begging on trains. People smoking in a metro will now be fined ₹2,000, while a ₹1,000 fine will be imposed for milking cattle on street. Begging on trains will attract a ₹1,000 fine.
