Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, Ramdas Athawale, in the Lok Sabha today informed that 325 people died while cleaning sewers and septic tanks during the last five years. The maximum number of people died in Uttar Pradesh (52). However, no death has been reported because of engaging in manual scavenging, he further said.
