20-year-old develops affordable wastewater treatment solution

Piyush Jha, a 20-year-old man developed a decentralised, modular wastewater treatment system to make treatment more practical and affordable, an innovation that has been recognised by the UN Development Programme. He innovated the system upon witnessing how wastewater accumulated around homes, exposing residents to several diseases. The system uses microorganisms to break down waste in water.
