Solar tsunami to hit Earth as Sun unleashes mega storm
The Sun erupted from Sunspot 4549 on October 8, producing an M6.7-class solar flare, a massive plasma wave called a solar tsunami, and a coronal mass ejection. Up to three such ejections could hit Earth on October 9 and 11, triggering minor to strong geomagnetic storms, brighter auroras, and possible disruptions to satellites, navigation systems and radio communications.
