Oil spill in Black Sea prompts federal emergency in Russia

Moscow declared a federal emergency on Thursday after an oil spill in Black Sea, triggered by two Russian tankers. The vessels, carrying about 4,000 tonnes of fuel, were struck by a severe storm on December 15. The spill, which released 3,700 tonnes of oil into Kerch Strait, has contaminated 2,00,000 tonnes of soil, polluting shores of Anapa resort.
