The Maharashtra Food and Drugs Administration has imposed a ban on sale of three beauty creams after laboratory tests found unsafe levels of mercury and lead that can damage kidneys and nervous system. The creams included Pakistan-origin Goree, Face Fresh Gold and Golden Star Beauty Cream. The cream continued to be sold on Meesho and other platforms despite the ban.
