Auto drivers’ unions threaten protests from May 4 over mandatory Marathi rule

Auto-rickshaw and taxi drivers’ unions have threatened a statewide protest starting May 4 if Maharashtra Transport Department doesn't withdraw its directive making proficiency in Marathi mandatory for drivers. Unions have set April 28 as deadline for government to roll back the order. As part of protest plan, agitations will be held at locations including railway stations, bus depots, and markets.
