Japanese AI lab Sakana has released a new AI model called Fugu Ultra, claiming it matches performance of Anthropic's most powerful models, Fable 5 and Mythos. The company said the model delivers "frontier capability without the risk of export controls". The remark appeared to be a dig at the US government's decision to impose export controls on both Anthropic models.
