BJP's Swapan Dasgupta has won the Rashbehari seat in the West Bengal Assembly elections, defeating TMC's Debasish Kumar by 20,865 votes. Dasgupta is a veteran journalist, a Padma Bhushan awardee and a former member of the Rajya Sabha. In the 2021 state Assembly elections, Dasgupta lost his contest for the Tarakeswar seat.
