Nearly 50% Indians are physically inactive: Lancet study

Prevalence of insufficient physical activity among Indian adults has risen from 22.3% in 2000 to 49.4% in 2022, a new Lancet study said. The proportion of such adults worldwide is 31%, the study said, adding that physical inactivity is more common among women (34%) globally compared with men (29%). High-income Asia Pacific region has highest physical inactivity rate, it said.
