People with liberal views tended to favour Lionel Messi, while those who identified as conservative tended to favour Cristiano Ronaldo, according to a study by Singapore's Nanyang Technological University. The study conducted in over 10,000 people across 26 countries found that those with higher self-esteem were more likely to favour Ronaldo. He received stronger average ratings in Southeast Asia.
