A total of 13 teams participated in the inaugural 1930 FIFA World Cup held in Uruguay. They were Argentina, Chile, France, Mexico, Yugoslavia, Brazil, Bolivia, Uruguay, Romania, Peru, the United States, Paraguay, and Belgium. The tournament, which was won by Uruguay, featured no qualification process, with every FIFA-affiliated nation invited to compete.
