A court in Maharashtra sentenced state minister Nitesh Rane to one month in jail for pouring mud on an NHAI engineer, Prakash Shedekar, in 2019. However, the order was suspended almost immediately, and the court allowed him to appeal before a higher court. Rane and his supporters poured mud on Shedekar to protest the poor condition of the Mumbai-Goa highway.
