Ganga water talks within JRC framework only: MEA

India's MEA said all river-water discussions with Bangladesh occur within the Joint Rivers Commission framework. Bangladesh seeks a new or revised Ganges water-sharing treaty before the existing 1996 agreement expires on December 12, 2026, demanding an explicit water guarantee clause. Separately, India-Bangladesh Joint Working Group on Trade resumed meetings in New Delhi after a three-year gap.
