Scientists spot possible dark matter signal

Scientists using LUX-ZEPLIN (LZ) dark matter detector recorded a mysterious particle interaction that could potentially have been caused by dark matter. Researchers said the event is difficult to explain through known background processes and appeared where dark matter signals are expected. However, its significance is only 2.6 sigma, below 5-sigma threshold required to claim scientific discovery.
