Semen makes it easier for monkeypox virus to infect cells: Study

Researchers at Goethe University and Universitätsmedizin Frankfurt have found seminal fluid can facilitate monkeypox (mpox) virus infection. Laboratory experiments showed that naturally occurring protein fragments in semen form fibres that help virus attach to and enter human cells. Researchers said findings could explain why sexual contact carries a particularly high risk of mpox transmission.
