The Centre approved a memorial for Dr Manmohan Singh hours before his funeral, following Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge’s request. Urging Congress to "stop playing dirty politics", the Centre stated that a place for Dr Singh's memorial will be allocated. This comes after Congress' Jairam Ramesh, questioned why Centre couldn't find a location for memorial, calling it an insult to Singh.
