India records 1.5 million annual deaths due to air pollution: Lancet

About 1.5 million deaths every year from 2009 to 2019 are potentially linked to long-term exposure to PM2.5 pollution, according to a study published in The Lancet Planetary Health journal. Researchers said that the entire 1.4 billion population of India live in areas having PM2.5 levels higher than WHO-recommended five micrograms per cubic metre yearly average.
