Grand Mufti of India Kanthapuram AP Aboobacker Musliyar compared women to gold ornaments that should be "kept safely in a box", while arguing that they should remain confined to their homes. Kerala Labour Minister Bindu Krishna criticised him, saying, "These types of statements push women centuries back."
