Romans used human faeces as medicine 1,900 years ago: Study

A study conducted by Turkish researchers has found that ancient Romans used human faeces as medicine around 1,900 years ago. Researchers analysed residue in a Roman vial found in Turkey and confirmed it contained human faeces mixed with thyme. The findings match remedies described by Roman physician Galen, considered a pioneer of Western pharmacology.
