In a landmark achievement, AIIMS Delhi carried out a live demonstration of Tele-Robotic Ultrasonography (TRUS) on a patient-volunteer who was located over 12,000 km away in Antarctica. "This was the first known implementation of such a tele-robotic diagnostic system at an Antarctic research station globally," National Centre for Polar and Ocean Research (NCPOR) Director Dr Thamban Meloth said.
