Retired teacher pushes groundnut farming to save water in Punjab

A retired teacher, Jarnail Singh, from Punjab's Kapurthala is promoting sustainable agriculture by encouraging farmers to adopt groundnut as a water-saving alternative to spring maize. His efforts helped expand groundnut cultivation to 26 acres this year, increasing the total area in the district to 72 acres. "The crop requires much less water and significantly lower input costs," he said.
