IMF's ex-Deputy MD Gita Gopinath said the oil price surge could trim global growth by 0.3-0.4 percentage points. She added that if oil averages $85 a barrel in 2026, headline inflation could rise by 60 basis points. "Before the Iran conflict, global growth was projected at 3.3% for 2026 on the assumption oil would average $65 a barrel," she stated.
